4th of July Parade experiment — Using “PANO” mode without moving my iPhone creates instant clown cars!

"The Line" at Sea Salt, Minnehaha Park, Minneapolis. I already got my Sea Salt supper, so I didn’t have to get in that line! Well worth the wait, IMHO. (Note the Surly beer trailer on the left, which is so smart.)

Make every parked car a smartcar! I had some fun with the iPhone PANO setting —  I was in the passenger seat traveling through Uptown, Minneapolis snapping PANOS. Here’s what I did for photos #2 through #5:

  1. Launch iPhone Camera
  2. Hit PANO setting
  3. Touch the other side of arrow to change pano direction
  4. Hold phone up to window
  5. When the car is moving, click the ‘Take Photo’ button, but don’t pan the phone, just let the panorama build
  6. Giggle at the new Smartcars you’ve created!

Btw, we took a left turn on to Lyndale in Photo #2, and we took a right on to 26th Street in Photo #5. Ha! Try it out sometime.

Good morning, Minneapolis. Urban sunrise.

NICE! I had no idea I could change the iPhone camera panorama direction by clicking on the arrow! This solves so many lighting/exposure problems.

I’m an idiot for not knowing this, but so happy I accidentally figured it out! That last photo is SO MUCH nicer than the first.

Good to be home, Minneapolis.

This is an iPhone panoramic of flowers on a lazy susan. I held the camera steady and slowly spun the flowers 360 degrees. Kinda cool. Note: Those are my fingers rotating the vase, not my toes.
Here are some other moving subject panoramas I’ve made.
