My Small Town In The USA! (‘My Simple’ Official Video)

Great video, great track. Check “Help Doomtree Collaborator Become The Next Greyson Chance” via Secrets of the City. I don’t understand it exactly, but sounds like F. Stokes needs your help so he can play the song live on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Perfect. Awesome violinist responds to concert interrupted by cell phone ring by improvising on the Nokia ringtone. [via]

This JAMBOX thing looks kinda nice.

GENTLEMAN’S BOOMBOX purchased by the owner of Red Belly Boardshop (a fellow DOSE marketman) He grabbed it as a wedding gift for some good friends… click the pic for a link to his shop’s website.

Birds and snakes and airplanes…R.E.M is not afraid…. Amazing for any creative collaboration to last 30 years. Nice body of work tied to many great memories. Here’s a promo pic from the early 80s that my friend Karl gave me during a “file purging”. —Interesting back story on the photographer credited on this. Check out her other early REM photos here… http://www.sandraleephipps.com/REM/

My good friend Brian (webattic) posted a nice photo-in-a-photo tribute to R.E.M. — I gave him that 8x10 for his birthday a buncha years ago — always thought it was a great band photo.

Booker T. Jones - “Everything Is Everything”

So, last night in the car, I heard this tune on The Current, pulled over to use Shazam to find the track, then looked it up on Youtube when I got home. Great tack. The drums, the heavy heavy bass, the organ. Wow. And then I find out it’s ?uestlove on drums! No wonder it stood out. Checking out the Booker T. Jones Youtube playlist now. I love music discovery these days.

The Google Doodle in honor of Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday is quite awesome.

This is a great Google doodle. Except for the big Google logo in it. A video this well done comes off as kind of cheap to me with all the Google logo integration. I wonder if people would have gone as gonzo for this creative if there had been a big Microsoft logo, or a big McDonald’s logo, or a big Chevrolet logo? you have to hand it to Google, though — They’ve achieved something pretty amazing with their ‘doodles’ campaign: Expected Product Placement. But this one just seemed a little too SPAMMY for some reason.
