Mugshot Monday -  “Disappearing Dinosaurs” coffee mug with Guatemalan Dark Roast by Peace Coffee
You can totally tell I’m drinking HOT HOT coffee in this coffee mug. It’s one of those heat sensitive mugs — the dino-skin magically melted away when I poured my cup of coffee this morning revealing the dinosaur skeletons!
Thanks to my new coworker Linz Kieffer for lending me this coffee mug! Because it’s awesome. (Btw, that’s Sue behind me if you were wondering.)
Here’s an animated GIF of the Disappearing Dinosaurs. I may need to buy my own!

Mugshot Monday - “Mitochondrial DNA Gene Cluster Map” coffee mug by Santa Erik with Guatemalan Dark Roast by Peace Coffee
Santa Erik makes some amazing ceramics. But he’s also an incredible rollerblader, avid biker, accomplished coffee drinker, and the best Santa Claus ever.
He makes his pottery at Northern Clay Center in Seward neighborhood and sells his work on his Etsy shop or at flea markets like the one at Seward Cafe where I bought my mug. Some day I want to take ceramics again because I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the coffee mug, Erik! It’s awesome.

Mugshot Monday - “Season’s Greetings” Reddit ‘Ugly Mug’ Gift Exchange coffee mug with Bat City Blend by Katz Coffee
This is the coffee mug I received from my Reddit ‘Secret Santa’ Ugly Coffee Mug exchange! It’s an amazing exchange — just check out these stats:
Total Participants: 3,745  Total Shipped: 3,561  Total Received: 2,966  Total Spent: $71,592
Incredible. But the low “total received” number was a little concerning — and I THOUGHT I was going to be one of the unlucky ones who never received a mug. However! My secret santa came through.
She wrote me a note apologizing and explained there was a small problem with shipping:

"I left your package and another package with my mother to take to the post office (she offered, which was super nice of her). Except she sent both packages to my friend! Who sent it back with a note saying "I don’t think this ugly mug is for me." I don’t really know why she didn’t call me. In the mean time, gmail was sending my reddit exchange e-mails to promotions, which I don’t look at. I fixed it. Your hideous mug with a long history and delicious coffee are coming tomorrow! So that happened."

I love that story. I also received an entire bag of Bat City Blend by Katz Coffee — I couldn’t be more happy about this. Be sure to check out all the mugs people got — MANY ARE AMAZING AND NOT UGLY! I plan to post mine very soon.

Mugshot Monday - “Unknown Cat” coffee mug with Guatemalan Dark Roast by  Peace Coffee  w/ guest Chica Golden Hotwheels!
I hate cats. Wait, that’s a little harsh. I “mostly” hate cats.
And as you can see, my dog Chica is TOTALLY BORED with this cat coffee mug. “Throw it away,” she seemed to tell me.
But I actually really like the shape and design of this cat coffee mug. However, it’s a total mystery as to who made it. I work at MSP-C and our editors get a lot of books and music and stuff to review for the various publications we publish. Occasionally, they will share some of these items on a table in the lunch room and THIS COFFEE MUG showed up last week! There are no identifiable markings whatsoever — I’d love to give credit to the unknown artist.
Btw, you can try and change my mind about cats, if you think I’m out of line. I know there are some very darling cats out there — for example, Chuck and Lori’s cat: Mr Mooki!
But I’ll leave you with my absolute favorite Onion headline that summarizes my feelings here: ”Like Boxes Of Shit In Your House? Get A Cat”.

Mugshot Monday - “Bakers Square Restaurant & Pies” coffee mug
Just dropped my Subaru Forrester at Firestone Autocare on Ford Parkway and I’m across the street waiting for the bus in Bakers Square. It’s cold and rainy outside and the hot coffee is good. I look pensive because I do not want to spend any more money on this car!
This summer, I was hoping to test using a combination of Bike/Bus/Train/Car2Go and sell my trusty Subaru. We’d then become a one car family and lower our carbon footprint — not to mention save some $$$!
But depending on the repairs, I may be skipping the test entirely. And that’s just fine with me.Well, I think it’s just fine.

Mugshot Monday - “Minnesota Twins” coffee mug with Columbia Roast by Alterra Coffee
It’s the MN Twins home opener today! I’m wishing I was at Target Field because it’s a glorious day outside. Which is amazing considering we got 6 inches of snow last Thursday here in Minneapolis.
Special thanks to Meghan for use of her Twins blanket, and to Rachel for telling me where I could find the most amazing Twins coffee mug ever!

Mugshot Monday - “The Masters” coffee mug with Guatemalan Dark Roast at Peace Coffee Shop with guest appearance by Arik Hanson!
We still have significantly sized snowbanks here in Minneapolis, but many of us are thinking SPRING. And if you’re thinking Spring and you are my friend Arik, you’re thinking about The Masters (practice rounds for the 2014 tournament start next week).
Arik actually had to go the Masters TWO TIMES to get that coffee mug he’s holding because they were sold out the first time he went. I have never been to the Masters, so today I grabbed one of the various donated coffee mugs at the Peace Coffee Shop — because a sun signifies Spring!
By the way, be sure to read Arik’s somewhat controversial blog post Why I’m completely revamping my coffee meet-up strategy. That post actually inspired this Mugshot Monday. It was great to see Arik and drink some good coffee and have some inspiring dialogue. I highly recommend it.

Mugshot Monday - “Bad Waitress — Skull & Cross-Silverware” coffee mug with Spyhouse Coffee
I’m on ‘Staycation’ and my wife’s school is on Spring Break, so we get to go out to lunch together! Without kids!
Love this coffee mug. Great photobomb behind me, too! I wonder who she is?

Mugshot Monday - “Twin Town Guitars” coffee mug with Guatemalan Light Roast by Peace Coffee
I really like Twin Town Guitar store. My two boys are taking weekly guitar lessons there and I saw this coffee mug for sale when I dropped them off — only $3.50! That’s not a deal, that’s a steal! Santa gave them a bass guitar and electric guitar for Christmas and they’ve been jammin’ ever since!
Love Twin Town’s tagline: “Keeping Your Life Loud and Local Since 1997”! Perfect. Got any good Twin Town Guitars stories? Leave a comment or Tumblr Reply.

Mugshot Monday - “@bigboxcar Mug Revolution Twitter Mug” coffee mug with Guatemalan Light Roast by Peace Coffee
I rarely replace a broken coffee mug. But I made an exception with this one.
This is a custom coffee mug hand crafted by Owen Dearing of Mug Revolution out of Bend, Oregon. He has a handy online form where you can choose what goes on the front and even pick custom thumb rests (this one has a bird, of course.)
Put a bird on it my friends!
Back in 2012, I cracked my first custom Twitter mug (sad photo here), but I am so happy to have this one back in the collection. You should make one, too!

Mugshot Monday - “Team Cullen Twilighter” coffee mug with Brazil Poco Fundo Vienna Roast by Flamenco Organic
My friend Meghan Wilker has a birthday this week and all she wanted was to be in a Mugshot Monday with Edward Cullen! We actually managed to arrange this meeting at Clockwork HQ and the photo shoot turned out dreamily — just look at Meghan’s Mona Lisa smile melting toward Mr. Cullen.
I had no idea what a “Twilighter" was, so in case you’re like me, here is Urban Dictionary’s definition:

A human being who is a fan of Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight Series’, consisting of ‘Twilight’, ‘New Moon’, ‘Eclipse’, and ‘Breaking Dawn’. Twilighters are usually quite addicted to the series, and would be considered ‘obsessed’ by some. (Also known as ‘Twi-Hards’)

Also understand (I did not, I’ve never seen Twilight—sorry!) that Edward is a VAMPIRE. But Meghan tells me he’s actually a “vegetarian vampire” so he only consumes animal blood. Nice! Sounds like a good guy to me.
Happy Birthday, Meghan! This turned out super good.
Also noteworthy: Check the Wonder Woman coffee mug photobomb! Perfection.
